Learning From eBay Sellers Typical Mistakes

A well known adage says that you must learn from other peoples errors. This is very true, you should not only learn the many constructive ideas as well as strategies but also observe the mistakes done by your competitors. A booming online businessman don’t just avoids doing his mistakes over again but in addition tries to prevent the errors done by others. While these errors are done by the newbies some experienced eBay sellers also commit a few of these mistakes. So here are some of the frequent errors that eBay sellers make.

1. Using a poor quality photo or no photo at all. Try putting yourself in the buyer’s place and ask this question. Would you buy an item in an eBay auction without having seen how or what it looks like and its condition? There is really no excuse for not including a photo of the product you are selling because these days there are many cheap digital cameras. Cell phone cameras lack the necessary feature to be able to produce high quality photos but if you are in a pinch you can use this but replace your picture at the soonest possible time. Bad quality photos will drive your potential buyers away so avoid posting one at all costs.

2. Using a photo with a huge file size. Many eBay stores commit this mistake too which is the other side of the previous tip. Bear in mind that such a picture causes a likely buyer to lose interest because it takes time to download. 2. Another mistake that lots of eBay stores do is to posting shipping and delivery details. Prospective buyers shun merchants with no shipping facts because at the back of their mind they would have questions as to your reliability as a seller. Never presume that potential buyers will just make contact with you if they are really attracted with your merchandise because there are many eBay stores that offer your merchandise too. This way, you will be losing bidder even before they get interested.

3. Creating terrible or ill conceived titles will never make money on eBay. If your titles are unplanned you are fundamentally lessening the chance that potential bidder will be able to find your eBay listing in the top two page results in search engines such as Google. Titles like “A toy thing” or “Cute pink dress” will not do. Increase the traffic to your listing by optimizing your titles for searching. You can do so by injecting keywords into your titles so that web spiders can include your title in the search results. So before you list your product, seek information. Try to find categories where your product should correctly go to and make a list of product keywords having the highest bid then proceed to using those keywords and phrases from your list.

4. Not opening your inbox and answering bidder inquiries hurts your business. Checking the email regularly is but a part of all eBay sellers responsibility. Once a potential buyer has some clarifications and other concerns regarding an item he/she is interested in you should always be ready to furnish answers promptly and politely. Otherwise they might forget about you altogether. I was in a craft reseller website looking for a particular crochet hook. I sent email to the site owner for clarification but she never answered back. After that I never went to her site again.

5. One of the blunders deter your chances to make money on eBay is having the wrong starting price. When you are setting a starting price for an item opt for the average price which you can glean from your research. If you price your item higher you will lose interest at a glance and if you set a very low price, you will be suspected of selling an inferior item. Therefore strike the balance, always go for the average price. Remember not all potential buyers are there for the low price alone, they also want good quality products and great buying experience.

6. Having only one payment option. Many eBay sellers only specify that they can only transact through a sole payment choice or through their own merchant. This is a error because there are many eBay sellers who dont use your merchant account and will want to go to all that trouble to set up another account just to pay your $30 worth item. So try to consider other payment options to give your likely buyers wider range of options.
